dc.description | ABSTRACT The research was conducted in the form of a literature review and aims to identify the various scientific studies on mirror therapy applied in amputee patients through a comprehensive literature review to update knowledge on the subject. Through this, information will be collected on the benefits offered by mirror therapy and its impact on phantom limb pain in amputee patients. Mirror therapy is a straightforward application, economical, and without contraindications therapy. Despite its multiple benefits due to the insufficient updated bibliographic material, it is very little used in the current working environment; however, 117 scientific articles were found. Using the exclusion criteria and the evaluation of the PEDro scale were discarded. Only 31 articles were selected and included in the research, which is in Spanish, and their great majority in English. The collection of the articles was from 2015 to 2020; most of the scientific articles were found in PubMed and Google Scholar. The research was completed with the discussion of the different authors; the objective was achieved by collecting scientific articles on the subject. The study demonstrated that mirror therapy is an effective technique for phantom limb pain in amputee patients, significantly reducing pain intensity and improving the quality of life. Keywords: amputation, phantom limb pain, mirror neurons, mirror therapy. Reviewed by: Dr. Narcisa Fuertes, PhD. ENGLISH PROFESSOR Cc: 1002091161 | es_ES |
