| dc.description | The American Rheumatology Association defines fibromyalgia as a chronic condition that produces widespread musculoskeletal pain, hypersensitivity in multiple areas of the body, sleep problems, fatigue, and emotional and mental distress. Its exact cause is under study, but is thought to involve genetic, neurobiological, and environmental factors. Diagnosis is based on its clinical features which include widespread pain and specific tender points. Treatment of fibromyalgia focuses on relieving symptoms and improving patients' quality of life, making use of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy treatments. Although some progress has been made in the understanding and management of fibromyalgia, it remains an evolving area of research. The aim of this study was to update information for the understanding of this pathology. It was a descriptive study, of qualitative documentary design, information sources were used such as: PubMed, Cochrane, Scopus, Mendeley, Cureus; information was collected from documents, books, digital medical journals, within the publication period 2019 - 2023, obtaining a total of 44 works under eligibility criteria and guidelines. We will obtain updated information on the diagnostic methods and the different forms of treatment of this pathology; therefore, it is concluded that this pathology requires timely and effective management for the benefit of the patient, highlighting the need to update knowledge of this pathology by primary care physicians for early diagnosis and provide relief to the patient | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | La Asociación Americana de Reumatología define a la fibromialgia como una afección crónica que produce dolor musculoesquelético generalizado, hipersensibilidad en múltiples áreas del cuerpo, problemas para dormir, fatiga y aflicción emocional y mental. Su causa exacta se encuentra en estudio, se cree que implica lo genético, neurobiológico y ambiental. El diagnóstico se basa en su clínica que incluye dolor generalizado y puntos de sensibilidad específicos. El tratamiento de la fibromialgia se enfoca en aliviar los síntomas y mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes, haciendo uso de terapia farmacológica y no farmacológica. Aunque se ha logrado un progreso en la comprensión y manejo de la fibromialgia, sigue siendo un área de investigación en evolución. El objetivo de este estudio fue actualizar la información para la comprensión de esta patología. Fue un estudio de carácter descriptivo, de diseño documental de tipo cualitativo, se utilizaron fuentes de información como: PubMed, Cochrane, Scopus, Mendeley, Cureus; se recolectó información de documentos, libros, revistas médicas digitales, dentro del periodo de publicación 2019 – 2023, obteniéndose un total de 44 trabajos bajo criterios de elegibilidad y directrices. Se obtendrá́ la actualización de información sobre los métodos diagnósticos y las distintas formas de tratamiento de esta patología, por lo tanto, se concluye que esta patología requiere un manejo oportuno y eficaz para beneficio del paciente, se destaca la necesidad de actualización de conocimiento de esta patología por los médicos de primer nivel de atención para diagnóstico temprano y brindar alivio al paciente. | es_ES |
